Leaders In Training (LIT)
The YMCA Leaders In Training program is a supervised leadership development program that allows candidates who have completed 7th grade and are not yet 16 years of age to develop and enhance their leadership skills. Candidates must express interest in interacting with younger children during sports, crafts, nature study, and water activities. LITs must commit to Monday– Friday for each session they register for. All of our LITs will participate in a well-rounded program of leadership development, activity & skills training, conflict resolution strategies, and character education. LITs will be responsible for assisting counselors in leadership roles within various areas of the camp program as well as participating in a diverse set of training sessions.
The goal of the LIT program is to provide many of the 40 Developmental Assets necessary to produce confident youth with the leadership skills to become successful adults. It provides participants with the tools to develop strong communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and the ability to act as a positive role model all qualities that colleges & future employers look for in candidates.
