This morning and afternoon Kindergarten to Sixth Grade program seeks to stimulate and facilitate the development of the whole child intellectually, physically and emotionally. Children grow in self-confidence and they gain independence with the skills they learn in group play and interaction. All of this is taught through the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Our goal is to provide an enriching program that keeps participants engaged throughout their time in our care.

Coordinated Approach to Child
Development (CATCH)

The YMCA is dedicated to fighting Childhood Obesity and promoting healthy lifestyles. In order to better achieve this goal, we are using a curriculum called CATCH Kids Club. CATCH is a physical activity and nutrition education program designed for elementary and middle school aged children (grades K - 6) in an after-school/summer setting.

Healthy Eating & Physical Activity Standards (HEPA)

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Ensure that children receive at lest 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity that promote bone and muscle strengthening. Play will take place outside whenever possible.
SCREEN TIME: No access to television or movies during regular program times.  FOOD: We serve a fruit or vegetable at every meal, being a fresh or unprocessed whenever possible. Meals are served family style which includes helping children serve themselves the proper portion size. Staff and children engage in conversation while seated together.
BEVERAGES: Water is available on the table during snack and accessible at all times. 100% juice or 1% milk is served occasionally.
PARENT EDUCATION: Implementing an educational program for parents about physical activities and nutritional information that is relevant to their child's health.

Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM)

The YMCA is helping all children reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys. At more than 1,000 YMCA sites nationwide, youth are engaged in year-round STEM activities that nurture their curiosity, inspire creativity and teach them how to succeed.
